I run into a problem, that I cant seem to find a way to transfer my retail non OEM license between my old laptop witch I will no longer use and new one i bought recently. Before I installed new laptop with win10 I formatted the old one. However when being unable to reactivate, I went ahead and reinstalled the old one. Both devices are under same Microsoft account. I can see them both, but in reactivation tab only old device appears. No new device. This thread is locked.

Activation servers still think you have Windows at old PC so you need to call Microsoft support and activate new PC by phone. Laptops usually have preinstalled OEM Windows. You may remove Windows from old PC again and wait some time for the second PC activation but I am not sure this waiting will be successful unfortunately. By phone, you mean a cell phone or call MS support via web browser? What would the number be to ring them by my cell phone?

If you have an old, retail non-OEM copy of Windows 7, 8 or 10 you are no longer using on another PC, you can likely use the product key when you do a fresh install of Windows on your new PC.
If you need help finding the product key on your old computer, there are several ways to find it, but using Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder , a free download, is probably the easiest. Note that if the product key comes from a prebuilt computer that came from the factory with Windows on it, it has an OEM key that may not work on a different new PC.
